Marriage

Marriage is final piece of the Ring Series that I have been working on since 2014. These rings represent my interior experience of a particular moment and have included meditations on comfort, power, ease and growth. I felt the need to start this series as a way to break out of engrained ideas of what “art is”. And more importantly, I had to break out of the paralysis of perfectionism.

The weight of the knotted fabric pulling on the ring reflects the tension and struggles of marriage in a society that still uses marriage as a way to reinforce patriarchy and capitalism.
